The Bank of Hollywood

This isn’t exactly a legal topic but I felt compelled to write about it anyway as it somewhat reminded me of  the same feeling when I am talking to opposing counsel and they say something that is really annoying.

So, I was watching E! and they have a new show called Bank of Hollywood. It is so embarrassing that I kind of had to stop watching it. Basically people come on and ask for money for whatever they want in front of a panel of judges, which includes Candy Spelling and a few others. There was an 8 year old kid who wanted to go to the Tap Olympics.  He was cute, danced like Michael Jackson and they gave him the money. However, then a couple came on who wanted 75k for their wedding. They looked like actors, they were not even engaged and the whole thing had such an air of awkwardness that I literally had to change the channel! I get that people want money and feel compelled to go on a show and ask for it. But even in those circumstances, it would be nice to see some genuine requests.

    To whom it may concerned,
I recently watched the bank of Hollywood show (thought it was quite funny) however, some of the contestants that were approved to receive money was questionable to me. I didnt thick they were all honest. I unfortunately could benifit from that show. I worked as a Nurse for 32 years. Due to an illness i was forced to retire early. Once i felt better, i decided to adopt a small dog from the Shelter. The dog had addisons disease, was abused. Soon after I adopted a second dog with a heart condition. Then came my elderly 13 year old shi tzu/terrier mix who is blind and can barely walk due to arthritis. My friends tell me that i am crazy to adopt sick old dogs. Maybe i am, however, it seems like most people that adopt dogs, tend to adopt the young healthy dogs. The old sick elderly dogs are oftened euthinized, which i think is horrible. We as humans want to enjoy our golden years. Why shouldn’t an elderly dog enjoy his or her golden years? I have the perfect house for these dogs. I have a small ranch in the country with a large fenced in yard. I am here 24/7 to take care of them. I walk them daily, feed them the best, play and give them tons of love. The Shelter has now put me on the top of there list as a person that will adopt the elderly small dogs. Needless to say i am called frequently. The problem is that despite the nice home and nice yard. I am in desperate need of money to build some ramps, so that i don’t have to carry all the dogs down the stairs. ” I had a spinal fusion 4 years ago”. My blind dog is also in need of eye surgery. I have pet insurance for all the dogs, however, it only covers illness and injury. If she had this cataract surgery it would improve her sight enough to enjoy what left of life she has. Despite her blindness, she is happy and loving. I am told the surgery is about $4,000 dollars and the ramps about $500 I just do not have the extra money to do this for these dogs. Between all there medications, medical insurance, special diet foods, grooming it takes up a good amount of my income. I know you must think i am crazy for taking in all these old dogs, but, it truly makes me happy taking care of them I love them and would cut my right arm off if it meant savinf their lives. Diane in Maine my P.O. Box is 1791 Lewiston Maine 04240 Thank You ps I also rescue any Shi Tzu
