Of course there is nothing wrong with it – just as there is nothing wrong with having to wait in line at LAX and JFK to face the double interrogation of Immigration and then Customs. “Where were you. What did you do there. How long were you out of the country. What is your profession. What did you buy.”

These questions are faced by every would-be entrant into the USA, even descendants of those who arrived here on the Mayflower nearly 400 years ago.

We either have a border, or we don’t, and yes it is that simple.

PS: that’s a rather beaming portrait of you, very effective.

That doesn’t make any sense. She went for a run, and then it’s her own fault not to “stay safe”? Needing to bring a weapon to go exercise? That’s just absurd.

Safety is a basic human need and everyone deserves it.

Wether or not the “system failed”, “did what it was designed to do” or both is irrelevant to that fact.
